Telkom my data manager: How to activate it and what it does.

The Telkom my data manager allows subscribers on the network to ensure that they are not charged from airtime when browsing the internet. This is especially true when their data bundles are used up. Data charges are only done on the data bundles users have bought on their line.

Have you ever been in a situation where your data bundles are exhausted (finished) and then all your internet browsing is charged to your airtime? And when you want to make a phone call, you get the message, “You have insufficient credit to complete this call.”!

Tell me about it. This can be very frustrating. Given that you had purchased internet bundles, but then your airtime is used up to browse.

That is where Telkom my data manager comes in, to help you avoid accidentally using up airtime to browse when your data bundles are finished.

How to activate my data manager

Here is how to activate data manager on your Telkom line, follow these steps.

  1. Dial *544#
  2. Select 6: my data manager
  3. Choose option 2: activate
  4. You’ll get a confirmation that you’ve activated ‘my data manager’

Example how your Telkom data bundle can get finished/exhausted quickly

For example, if you are watching a YouTube video and your data bundles run out, having the Telkom data manager activated, your video stops playing. Until you buy another Telkom internet bundles.

If you haven’t activated the data manager, then your credit will be used to continue watching the video. This will get your airtime balance to zero. Avoid this by activating my data manager on your line.
